Trump International Scotland: Two Courses Making Their Mark in Aberdeen

With two championship links, extraordinary dunes and a spectacular stretch of North Sea coastline, Trump International Scotland is giving golfers plenty of reasons to head for Aberdeen.

Scotland has no shortage of great links courses. And Aberdeenshire, with Royal Aberdeen, Cruden Bay and Murcar all within easy reach, is hardly lacking in quality.

With the opening of its second championship course in 2025, Trump International Scotland has brought its vision of the 'Greatest 36 Holes in Golf' to life.

It's a bold ambition, and one that reflects the scale of what's been created on this remarkable stretch of coastline.

The Old Course is all about the dunes. Opened in 2012 and designed by Martin Hawtree, the original links is built among some extraordinary sand formations.

And they're enormous. Fairways wind between towering dunes, greens sit tucked into natural hollows, and on more than one occasion you'll find yourself on an elevated tee with the North Sea stretching out in front of you.

It’s a course that asks plenty of questions, particularly when the wind gets involved, while the par-five 18th is an exceptional finish, played from a spectacular tee with views towards the clubhouse.

The New Course has its own ideas. Opened in 2025, it still has plenty of dunes, but the terrain opens up in places, with wetlands and water hazards adding challenges you don't encounter as often at its older neighbour.

There's the enormous natural bunker, too. A feature that looks impressive in photographs but must be quite another proposition when your ball is heading towards it.

The New Course has plenty of character of its own, which is exactly what you'd hope for when building a second links alongside an already established one.

The real attraction is playing both. There's something very appealing about having two great tracks on the same property, giving golfers a good reason to spend more than a single day at the resort.

And then there's plenty else to see only a short drive away. Royal Aberdeen is one of the great traditional links. Cruden Bay is wonderfully quirky and full of character. Add Trump International to the mix, and you've got the makings of a very good golf trip indeed.

For golfers who enjoy discovering different interpretations of links golf, Aberdeen is well worth the journey. Trump International Scotland now gives them 36 more reasons to make it.
